Blegh, my scans are clogged up with natural resources, metals, oil etc…..
Of course I miss the open yesterday and have a shower of great plays, I’m back for the open today and don’t see jack shit… Oh well often the bleakest days turn into the best, just not in love with this watch list TBH.
Real quick list of tickers today, I have a 9AM meeting (worst possible time for a day trader… grr) But anyway. Solid day yesterday with one low stress trade.
Still just in watch mode for exhaustion. No desire to be on the frontside, if this can para I may start into it, but if it just grinds up I’ll ignore for now.
Anavex Life Sciences Corp. (AVXL) -NasdaqCM
Looking tired, may start scaling into this.
China Information Technology, Inc. (CNIT) -NasdaqGS
Gapping a little this morning, hopefully it runs out of the gate.
Target: $2.70-$2.80
SunEdison, Inc. (SUNE) -NYSE
Target: $6.00
Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. (PACB) -NasdaqGS
Was in and out a lot Friday so only ended up trading $SUNE. Annoying that I held it all day, but in the end I managed it pretty well and exited for a small loss. Good trade considering it is gapping up today. All of these stocks on watch I want pop’s. Nothing I’m excited about getting short right at the open.
Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. (PACB) -NasdaqGS
Strong chart right now, adding to watch to wait for backside.
Anavex Life Sciences Corp. (AVXL) -NasdaqCM
Keep talking about shorting that $8 level but keep ignoring… Will look to get more aggressive now that this is getting long in the tooth.
Target: $8.00
SunEdison, Inc. (SUNE) -NYSE
As mentioned above, this was a loser, but happy with how I traded it. Of course it was a pretty mediocre setup probably should not have been as patient as I was. But I followed my plan, refused to hold over the weekend, and avoided that stress.
Target: $7.50
FXCM Inc. (FXCM) -NYSE
Very similar idea to PACB, let it run/squeeze, will look to short after the top is in. Probably later this week.
Solid day yesterday, had good gains on WTW so let GMCR take me for a little ride. Not sure why but I had a lot of confidence in GMCR. Though in the end the trade was TERRIBLE risk to reward I made a nice profit. Funny thing is it’s so obvious when you let a trade beat you up, you get scared to add at the right time and then cover the INSTANT you are green. My cover was minutes before an even bigger crack… Oh well. Green is green, though the process was flawed.
Lot’s of biotech’s I’ll be EXTRA cautious on these until the KBIO madness runs out of steam.
Kind of annoyed staring at GMCR kept me out of this yesterday. But the spike was pretty late in the day, and again considering the madness of KBIO, there was no way I was going to short something at 3PM and hold it over. Ideally a spike today.
Target: $10.25-$10.50 risk on $11
Weight Watchers International, Inc. (WTW) -NYSE
Same drill, watch for spikes.
Target: $27, risk on $27.50
Anavex Life Sciences Corp. (AVXL) -NasdaqCM
Decent setup yesterday, but I was trading WTW.
Target: $6.50
ZIOPHARM Oncology, Inc. (ZIOP) -NasdaqCM
I was locked on this as well yesterday but never pulled the trigger.
Target: $13.50
Harvard Apparatus Regenerative Technology, Inc. (HART) -NasdaqCM
Getting close to ignore, this probably ends up a solid short, it will drop 20% plus at some point, but when and how who knows. I just don’t like it at $2, want it way higher.
Mitek Systems, Inc. (MITK) -NasdaqCM
Watching, no real target, hoping for a big move to get short.
Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. (PACB) -NasdaqGS
Strong biotech chart, will watch but be extra cautious.
As mentioned yesterday I went long this when it held $6.50 support. Nice upgrade overnight, I’ll try and be patient with this. The deal they landed appears to be huge.
Kirin International Holding, Inc. (KIRI) -Other OTC
Every time this shoots up 50 cents I have an alert go off. But I have yet to short it. Its probably a ripe setup just so damn illiquid. Would probably have been smart to just put in small orders for those 50 cent pops and might have ended up with a pretty good average. Just watching this for the next time one resembles it.
Weight Watchers International, Inc. (WTW) -NYSE
This typifies my biggest frustration with my trading lately. I nailed an entry on this, but then had no conviction and covered for 10 cents or so. It then proceeded to fade all day. I’ve gotten to the point where I take “nail and bail” to seriously, need to let winners run more.
I’m short biased but only on pops. Hoping some late shorts came in yesterday and they will get squeezed out.
Target: Let it run in the morning, if it does, then look to fade it.
Neogenomics Inc. (NEO) -NasdaqCM
Stalked this ALL DAY yesterday looking for a short entry, it held $6.90’s and then perked over $7.00 after that I’m long biased.
Target: Look to buy the move above previous highs, $7.15-7.20
Anavex Life Sciences Corp. (AVXLD) -Other OTC
I’ve avoided this for weeks, it will crack at some point but seems to just keep holding up. Timing appears to be tough, I have no desire to “swing short” but this is probably a great setup for that.
Target: Right where it’s at, $9.00ish
Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. (PACB) -NasdaqGS
Hrmm, earnings tonight, it will crash. But I don’t think I have the balls to hold into earnings.
Target: Fade under $7, but this is probably just a watch because of earnings.
One trade yesterday on $VTL, but never really “felt it”. Bummer of a miss on RMTI, but both of these were such low volume, I never felt solid about going in heavier. While it is a drag its almost smart IMHO. You can be right but lose money going too heavy into illiquid stuff.
Feel like I have too many on watch today, because nothing blows me away, will work to pare this down.
Holding overnight, will try and be patient, but will cover into any pull/wash.
Kirin International Holding, Inc. (KIRI) -Other OTC
Illiquid and choppy, but will try to short pops.
Target: $5.50
Weight Watchers International, Inc. (WTW) -NYSE
Still bummed I didn’t buy this yesterday pre market, had the idea and passed for some reason. Now I’m waiting for backside. Will not get to aggressive.
Target: Hopefully some big para short squeezes that set a top to fade this afternoon.
Kandi Technologies Group, Inc. (KNDI) -NasdaqGS
Target: $9.50
Energy Recovery, Inc. (ERII) -NasdaqGS
Let it run and be patient.
Target: Para to set top.
Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. (PACB) -NasdaqGS
Another kind of frustrating day Friday, held PACB overnight, which I hate, it faded a little out of the gate, then bounced, I covered at even, it then pulled 30-40 cents, annoying. But at the same time, it never cracked so even when it pulled I probably would not have covered and sat around all day as it ground back. Then I would have covered into the close for peanuts after wasting my whole day.
Instead I covered flat and went and did other things and had a great day outside of trading. It is what it is, it was Friday and I knew stuff will often hold up. Last few weeks shorts have been pretty annoying. Going to continue to work on my long game.
Shorted this Thursday for flat (seems to be a trend), best play would have been Thursday. Since Friday it ground all the way back. My target was $7.00 but no way I was shorting at 3PM on a Friday.
Target: $7+ para, not grinding.
Kirin International Holding, Inc. (KIRI)
Jumpy, if I trade this it will be small.
Target: $6.00
Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. (PACB)
Can’t believe I’m adding this to watch again, but I think this just keeps piling up shorts. And while I may not make any money on it, at least I keep covering for flat or puny losses. Waiting/hoping for a squeeze em out move.
Great day yesterday! Traded my plan across the board and was done by noon. Other than entering mid day even my loser was a solid trade. Feel like I’m reaching a little on some of these setups today. I also need to leave this afternoon. Two back to back good days so I will focus on letting things come to me. Plus trading a lot of tickers the last couple days I don’t like that habit. Going to really force myself to be selective today, especially since I’m not in love with anything.
Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. (PACB) -NasdaqGS
Gasp! Of course $PACB is on the list, I had the idea (credit @investorslive) to go long a couple days ago instead of fighting short. Never took it. I’m not going to be a hero on this short, highly doubt I trade it today, just watching for some crazy and I mean CRAZY move up. Otherwise solely on watch to keep an eye for backside.
Target: Huge move up, $9.00+
Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (RJET) -NasdaqGS
Not sure if I fully understand the news and how bad it is. I won’t chase but looking for pops to short.
Target: $6.20-$6.30
Can-Fite BioPharma Ltd. (CANF) -NYSE MKT
Had this on “backburner” watch forever it seems, every time it spikes I have alerts go off, but never enter. Watching for more spikes.
Target: $5.00+ with stop on $5.50
SunEdison, Inc. (SUNE) -NYSE
If you have visited this blog anytime in the last two months, I’m pretty sure you know the plan on $SUNE.
Target: $10.00
Advaxis, Inc. (ADXS) -NasdaqCM
I’m probably a little too biased but thinking this is total short squeeze, it will give it all back, but there will be spikes in between now and then. I want no pain from it, so I will short “squeeze em out” pain moves.
Target: Not sure on a price, will be watching for a para type move, the kind of move we all capitulate on and cover in anger. This could grind all day then hit that move. Will only short a BIG candle.
Bonanza Creek Energy, Inc. (BCEI) -NYSE
Stone Energy Corp. (SGY) -NYSE
Shitty energy plays, tied to oil, both NYSE, meh. I’ll watch/trade these only if there is nothing else. Basically if oil eats shit, they will eat shit, if oil holds up, they will hold up. What do I know about the movement of oil? Hmm how about absolutely nothing….
No recap video yesterday, I lost power about 3:30 and by the time it came back on I’d moved on to doing other things.
Ended up green on the day, but over traded again. I primarily blame $PACB, I don’t even know how many times I went in and out, even flipped long at one point. I traded probably 5 tickers, no surprise I made no big profits on any of them. I am not good at managing multiple positions and will invarible close out as soon as I see green. Less is more, will focus on that today.
Not crazy about a lot of these, almost everything on scan is a beat down chart spiking up. Those types of charts are hard to set risk on, if they are down huge, you never really know how much they can come back. Tons of tickers on scan, just not that many I like.
Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. (PACB) -NasdaqGS
As mentioned annoyed by this one, going to use the @investorslive method. Watching for weak open then red/green. Or parabolic to get short. If it just kind of bangs around I’ll ignore. Done focusing on this one all day.
Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (RJET) -NasdaqGS
Made peanuts on this, knew I shouldn’t short fading but thought I’d try it, of course it held up. Back to my original plan of only shorting a parabolic.
Target: parabolic towards $7.00
Bonanza Creek Energy, Inc. (BCEI) -NYSE
Shorted this from $7.00 to $6.90, whoo hoo!! Probably cracks but I’ll only short a big move up.
Target: Para towards $8.00 ignore grinding
Alcoa Inc. (AA) -NYSE
Not a fan of “real” stocks, but I’ll watch this for a squeeze type move.
Target: $11.50-$12.00
Willbros Group Inc. (WG) -NYSE
Random watch item, probably will be no volume, but I like the chart.
