Doing my best to avoid loading up the watchlist with crappy oil and gas. Oil futures up big so today probably not gonna be a short day for them. They will die eventually but not looking like today.
Ended up passing on this, was just too cautious, but really felt like it had another run in it. And I try and not to short day 1. Ideally a big rip, its still early and its Friday, if this just grinds up I’m in no hurry and will wait till next week.
Ocean Power Technologies, Inc. (OPTT) -NasdaqCM
Perennial POS, but not much volume.
Target: Push to $3.00
Energy Recovery, Inc. (ERII) -NasdaqGS
Like the chart, again too low volume though.
Target: $10.00
Pacific Ethanol, Inc. (PEIX) -NasdaqCM
Target: Pops to $6.00 or a late day fade.
Astrotech Corp. (ASTC) -NasdaqCM
Target: $2.40-$2.50
Peabody Energy Corporation (BTU) -NYSE
Huge company, huge volume, but EVERYBODY is short, will wait for a squeeze.
Need to adapt to trying more diverse ideas. I knew “everybody” was short this the other day. Would have been a pretty easy long.. Now that its been a couple day’s I’m short biased. But not at this $3 level it really has to “fry shorts” for me to get in. $4-5+??
Had the idea, just didn't take it: 12:58:14 pm – Any opinion on $SPHS for some sort of late day move? Seems to be holding $2.40 pretty well
Pure death… I’ll watch for pop’s, though I doubt it ever does. $35 dollars a few months ago, so you know there are some desperate longs. But the news is just sooo bad every day.
Weight Watchers International, Inc. (WTW) -NYSE
I’ve done ok on this over the last week or so, never any big profits, but made money. Pretty annoying, but tough not to at least watch it. Short bias.
Energy Recovery, Inc. (ERII) -NasdaqGS
Not a big fan of “swing shorts” but I was long bias this for a while. Looks like the hype is now fading, classic “red candle floater” thought I doubt I will trade it, its a good one to watch what happens when the momo goes away. I’m thinkin this is a solid short here, just probably gonna take days/weeks.
Amira Nature Foods Ltd. (ANFI) -NYSE
Some natural food company based in Dubai? You can actually grow something in the 120 degree desert? Anyway watching for a blow off top.
Glad I recognized no good opportunities or “niche setups” on Friday. No trades and that was a good thing. Basically all my pre market plans did the opposite of what I thought. Of course I often avoid trading on Fridays.
Powerful Oprah continues to keep this up. While I think it can end up being a solid short, its a tricky one. I’ll probably avoid.
Target: Watching for crazy spikes.
China Housing and Land Development, Inc. (CHLN) -NasdaqCM
Like the chart but volume is really going away.
Target: High $4’s
Energy Recovery, Inc. (ERII) -NasdaqGS
I’m still long bias on this, but at this point I think I’m giving it to much attention. Will look to buy if it can really break out. But so far every push has been a fakeout.
Target: Buy above $7.70’s-$7.90’s
Vital Therapies, Inc. (VTL) -NasdaqGS
This might be the only stock I miss trading on Friday, but even if I had shorted the morning rush, it hung around all day, and then I’d be forced with the decision to hold it overnight. Glad I didnt have to make that call.
Good day yesterday, but still annoyed by my lack of conviction. Traded WTW, KNDI and ERII for profits. But in the end poorly, covered KNDI too quick into the wash, covered WTW too quick into the wash, got shook out for small profits in ERII, even though my original stop never got hit, now its running. I traded my plan on NEO buying it but sold for a puny loss even though my stop never got hit, and its gapping up today and will most likely run.
I’ve got a bunch to do today and going to spend some time thinking. I profited on 4 trades yesterday but took about 25% of the profits I should have. And this is not some hypothetical nailing bottoms or tops, I’m saying if I just followed my plan I would have been sitting so much better.
I’m going to work on confidence and for lack of a better term being more “cocky” my timid trading is profitable lately but annoying as hell.
As mentioned yesterday I went long this when it held $6.50 support. Nice upgrade overnight, I’ll try and be patient with this. The deal they landed appears to be huge.
Kirin International Holding, Inc. (KIRI) -Other OTC
Every time this shoots up 50 cents I have an alert go off. But I have yet to short it. Its probably a ripe setup just so damn illiquid. Would probably have been smart to just put in small orders for those 50 cent pops and might have ended up with a pretty good average. Just watching this for the next time one resembles it.
Weight Watchers International, Inc. (WTW) -NYSE
This typifies my biggest frustration with my trading lately. I nailed an entry on this, but then had no conviction and covered for 10 cents or so. It then proceeded to fade all day. I’ve gotten to the point where I take “nail and bail” to seriously, need to let winners run more.
I’m short biased but only on pops. Hoping some late shorts came in yesterday and they will get squeezed out.
Target: Let it run in the morning, if it does, then look to fade it.
Neogenomics Inc. (NEO) -NasdaqCM
Stalked this ALL DAY yesterday looking for a short entry, it held $6.90’s and then perked over $7.00 after that I’m long biased.
Target: Look to buy the move above previous highs, $7.15-7.20
Anavex Life Sciences Corp. (AVXLD) -Other OTC
I’ve avoided this for weeks, it will crack at some point but seems to just keep holding up. Timing appears to be tough, I have no desire to “swing short” but this is probably a great setup for that.
Target: Right where it’s at, $9.00ish
Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. (PACB) -NasdaqGS
Hrmm, earnings tonight, it will crash. But I don’t think I have the balls to hold into earnings.
Target: Fade under $7, but this is probably just a watch because of earnings.
Nothing great yesterday, covered VTL for a decent win. Shorted pops on KNDI per my plan but lost a little. Then got shook out of ERII. This was annoying since I’ve been working on going long these big gainers and felt like I had a good entry. Then at the end of the day some wacky shit happened that spooked me out. Frustrating because I had the right idea and at this point it looks like it would have worked out nicely.
I’m still long bias, will watch for dips to a support level. $6.50, $6.20, $6.00
Turtle Beach Corporation (HEAR) -NasdaqGM
I’ve got pretty minimal interest in this, just watching if it gets squeezish.
Target: High $3’s
Weight Watchers International, Inc. (WTW) -NYSE
Basically feel obligated to add this to watch, but I’m just going to sit and wait for a clear backside. Ideally it does some sort of “fry the shorts” move $20+. Really I should be looking for dips to buy, but doubt I will. If anything I’ll watch this today, just to get a better feel for these. It is day 3 though, this is typically the point where the shorts will capitulate and you will get a pull.
Kirin International Holding, Inc. (KIRI) -Other OTC
I’ve been watching this for what seems like a week. I set alerts, they go off, but when I bring up the chart there is so little volume I can’t convince myself to enter. I think this will be a killer short, just picking entry is tough.
Target: $6.50, but volume needs to pick up.
Kandi Technologies Group, Inc. (KNDI) -NasdaqGS
Had my target at $9.50 in pre yesterday. It hit that target and at the same time TSLA was eating shit. My thought process was KNDI is overextended on little to no news and TSLA should drag down all electric cars. KNDI did nothing but grind up a couple cents. At least I wasn’t stubborn and hold a loser overnight. I covered for a puny loss.
One trade yesterday on $VTL, but never really “felt it”. Bummer of a miss on RMTI, but both of these were such low volume, I never felt solid about going in heavier. While it is a drag its almost smart IMHO. You can be right but lose money going too heavy into illiquid stuff.
Feel like I have too many on watch today, because nothing blows me away, will work to pare this down.
Holding overnight, will try and be patient, but will cover into any pull/wash.
Kirin International Holding, Inc. (KIRI) -Other OTC
Illiquid and choppy, but will try to short pops.
Target: $5.50
Weight Watchers International, Inc. (WTW) -NYSE
Still bummed I didn’t buy this yesterday pre market, had the idea and passed for some reason. Now I’m waiting for backside. Will not get to aggressive.
Target: Hopefully some big para short squeezes that set a top to fade this afternoon.
Kandi Technologies Group, Inc. (KNDI) -NasdaqGS
Target: $9.50
Energy Recovery, Inc. (ERII) -NasdaqGS
Let it run and be patient.
Target: Para to set top.
Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. (PACB) -NasdaqGS
