No Watchlist today – 5/21/2010

Starting at 4:45am I have been swapping modems on my DSL connection trying to get it to stabilize. I think I have a whole pile of bad gear. At this point I have it operating but at such a crappy data rate trying to flip through screens to build a watchlist is infuriating.

If the markets weren’t constantly making new lows and offering up some decent short setups I would probably fight through the speed hassles. But considering I saw nothing particularly interesting on the limited screens I ran screw it…

Besides it will probably be a big PPT induced bounce day before going into the weekend anyway. I don’t anticipate a very short friendly day today.

Watchlist – 5/20/2010 – Maybe my shortest list ever!

Glad yesterdays picks turned out well, since I don’t have squat to watch today! I’ll recap yesterdays list below, but not much to say beforehand, considering the small assortment of setups.

BSRC

Awesome! Talk about an attempt to sound as totally GREEN as possible, BioSolar, Inc. has developed a breakthrough technology to produce bio-based materials from renewable plant sources that will reduce the cost per watt of solar cells.. Lets make solar panels out of renewable resources, the tree huggers will eat it up!!! Just read the intro on their website and try and tell me they don’t sound absolutely full of it!! That jargon laced gibberish is hilarious! But if you are a moron I’m sure it would impress the hell out of you! I will attempt to short this aggressively if possible, even though I hate shorting under $1, this stock is too good to miss out on. SHORT

DIVX

I’m still long, and oh yes by the way, I’m still an idiot… LONG

LSCG

Actually appears to be a borderline “real” company, but these lighting plays have popped a lot lately only to crash. And even if they were for real that chart looks way to vertical to me. Price is much more in my comfort zone, but awfully thin, not sure if I will play this. If I do it will be small. SHORT

Recap from yesterday:

AEZS

Finally made a couple hundred bucks on this turd, but that took waaay to long, my exit was also rushed due to work commitments. I had thought it would collapse much more after cracking $1.80. Oh well a profit is a profit.

AUTH

Finally cracked $3, I think I originally called this around $3.10. I’m confident it continues to fade, but waaay to boring. I guess I can call myself right, but whoopity doo, 20 cents!

ANTS

HUUUUUUGE intraday drop, and huuugly predictable! But no borrows for me… Sad, but it is fun and interesting and indeed educational to see these play out.

BFAR

I “may” have dropped the ball on this killer short, I never tried very hard to find borrows yesterday AM since I knew I would have no time to trade. Killer short setup and killer trade, but another miss for this Part Time Pennystocker…

DIVX

More sideways, more boredom.

ERSO

This did go down, but slooow and boring and illiquid. Another one I was technically right on, but no real trade setup.

Overall:

Great list from yesterday, too bad I didn’t make any money on any of the setups.

Watchlist – 5/19/2010 – A rushed, slapped together list.

Morning meetings and then service calls so this list is rushed! Not that I’m normally a word smith, but please excuse any typo’s and spelling errors etc, I’m trying to pound this out in under ten minutes.

AEZS

Finally thought this might crack yesterday, but NOPE! Still waiting, but I have no idea why. SHORT

AUTH

Another boring play from yesterday, I came very close to shorting but since I said I wouldn’t unless it cracked $3, I stuck to my premarket plan. SHORT

ANTS

Finally showed some weakness, cracked pretty nicely mid day but then bounced, but unable to get back above $3. Shares are tough to come by though. SHORT

BFAR

This is probably the best short setup on my list, but borrows are next to impossible. At least at my brokers. SHORT

DIVX

Uh no, cough cough, I still don’t own that crappy stock!! Hurrumph, how I wish that statement was true, should have dumped into the morning spike yesterday but preoccupied with work, now I’m back to watching it plod along sideways. I HATE owning boring stocks. LONG

ERSO

Number two best setup, I’ll be desperately trying to lock up some shares to short. SHORT

Notes:
Stupid knee continues to nag, so mediocre upper body workout follows. Better then nothing, but it would be really fricking nice if this knee would get better so I can get back to full body workouts.

Watchlist 5/18/2010 – Who doesn’t enjoy being a bag holder from time to time?

Ugh, still sitting on a bad short and a bad long, underwater on both. I did make a couple nice trades late last week, but two crappy plays on AEZS and DIVX are more or less erasing the gains from those couple trades. I could have closed both of them and made piddly profits, but tried to think more long term. But neither of these stocks are going either way. If only there were more interesting plays I think I would have moved on. But since I was unable to locate shares of the hottest recent short HAUP. I’m stuck with these two terrible plays…

AEZS

Why do I continue to wait? Probably because this turd shows absolutely no ability to spike over $2 a share. Even when they ran out a bunch of positive fluff articles yesterday. Volume and price are fading, but at an excruciatingly slow pace. SHORT

ANTS

Charts seems too perfect and “engineered”. I’m confident it will fall and fall hard at some point, but impossible to know when it will rollover at this juncture. Constant up day after up day. SHORT

AUTH

Probably a boredom pick, showed up on my “fading” scan. But tons of positive news, I will stay away unless it cracks a round number at $3 a share. SHORT

BFAR

Nasty little chinese biopharma up 300% in a couple days. Probably 0% chance I’ll find any shares to borrow, but that chart is a beauty to short into!! SHORT

DIVX

My super lame long term pick. That sounds so much nicer then “stupid ass bagholding long”. I was trying to give this a little more latitude but its dying on the vine, if it fails to go anywhere today I’ll cut it for a $300-400ish loss. LONG

Review from Previous Day:

No trades yesterday, and I sort of reviewed the end of week action at the beginning of the post.
