Watchlist 4-30-2014 – $RDNT, $GOGO, $NVAX, $AAV, $MPET

Today’s List: Full list from Yahoo Finance

RadNet, Inc. (RDNT) -NasdaqGM

Shorted this late day yesterday out of boredom, I struggle with entering mediocre setups after watching them all day. I think I somehow want to act on the sunk cost of time spent watching them go no where. Need to work on improving that.

RDNT

Gogo Inc. (GOGO) -NasdaqGS

I have never been good at “buying the bounce” but I almost did on this yesterday. Doubt I will trade it, but I’ll be watching it as an experiment. On a business note, I’m glad someone is finally competing with these assholes. I have used $GOGO twice in my life I think and it was the shittiest waste of money I have ever experienced. I’d rather go without as opposed to trying to use their crappy connection.

Reminds me of this: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/no_internet

GOGO

Novavax, Inc. (NVAX) -NasdaqGS

Another ticker I spent a ton of time watching yesterday, at least I didnt enter this one. I’ll be watching for the short entry, but I don’t know, it just isn’t up THAT much either…

NVAX

Advantage Oil & Gas Ltd. (AAV) -NYSE

Another shitty oil and gas play, I have done “ok” shorting these the last week or so. Though never for any big profits, just piddly wins here and there.

aav

Magellan Petroleum Corporation (MPET) -NasdaqCM

See comments above on $AAV, same goes on this.

MPET

Watchlist 4-29-2014 – $RDNT, $GBR, $VDSI, $NUSMF

Today’s List: Full list from Yahoo Finance

RadNet, Inc. (RDNT) -NasdaqGM

Wow if there was ever a “short based on their shitty webpage” stock this is it… Not sure if its ready but I’ll be looking to fade this.

RDNT

New Concept Energy, Inc. (GBR) -NYSE MKT

I’m late to the game after watching this last week. Went short yesterday based on the “we refuse to comment on unusual market activity” press release, as well as a NEG Seeking Alpha article. Bummer is its so far off its highs, that I doubt it will be much of a gain. Choppy blegh chart.

GBR

VASCO Data Security International Inc. (VDSI) -NasdaqCM

Also shorted this yesterday, I think its ready for a pull back, but the disconcerting part was the market was falling apart mid day yesterday and VDSI was one of the few stocks that held up through that drop. I’ll hold, but with a real short leash.

VDSI

Nautilus Minerals Inc. (NUSMF) -Other OTC

Usually I avoid stuff under a dollar, but this thing looks to be a total and utter carcass, and its up enough to get me interested. Never hurts when they are based in Vancouver too!

NUSMF

Watchlist 4-25-2014 – $VAPE, $LLEN, $GWPH, $BIOF

Another pretty boring day for me yesterday, BUT another green day so hard to complain. Finally shorted $BIOF and made $500ish, really wanted to hold 1/2 overnight but then it spiked right at the close. I covered all to protect my profits. I’ll be watching it closely again today.

At the time of this post (7:30) futures are getting pretty shitty, looking forward to a more volatile day, Wed and Thurs were very slow.

Today’s List: Full list from Yahoo Finance

Vape Holdings, Inc. (VAPE) -Other OTC

One of my primary goals for the future is to learn how to play these OTC’s better. I bought this at $4, watched it for five minutes, it dropped below $4 so I sold. About 1 minute later it shot straight to fucking FIVE DOLLARS!! So instead of making thousands I lost a couple hundred bucks. Bummer is I’m always so short biased its like torture holding a long. But at least I made the right call, just traded it like dog shit.

Should continue to be interesting today.

VAPE

L & L Energy, Inc. (LLEN) -Other OTC

LOVE this chart, but looks like its going to be real hard to find borrows. IB has a few but not enough to make it worth trading. I’ll be ALFSS.

LLEN

GW Pharmaceuticals plc (GWPH) -NasdaqGM

Another personal improvement project for this year is to start studying and trading higher priced stocks. By default I have avoided this ticker all week just because its a $70 stock. In hindsight its probably the best play of the week, and could have been traded with good R/R on several days. I just automatically see a stock over $20 and it gets ignored.

GWPH

BioFuel Energy Corp. (BIOF) -NasdaqCM

Fought and battled with this thing, I left bloody and bruised but with profits. Way to much work and too hard though. I still think the ethanol business is shit, this stock is probably shit, but when you get a guy like Einhorn behind it, the odds of it really cracking hard are probably pretty low. There’s probably some dude sitting in a dark basement somewhere and his only job is to buy when this thing starts fading. I’ll watch again today, but unless it does something interesting I will not keep wasting time typing this ticker into my terminal.

BIOF

Watchlist 4-24-2014 – $BIOF, $AXAS, $FXEN

Yikes yesterday was painfully boring, I traded but everything I tried went no where. Nice not to take losses but I think its even more frustrating more me to sit there at even and watch and watch and watch.. Something I need to workout is identifying these slow days quicker, then I can shutdown and do something else. I always have at least a 2 page to do list. So days like yesterday I should have checked out by 11AM and gotten some non trading shit done….

Because of the slow day yesterday, pre list is pretty boring, but should be lots of volatility today, big market moves with $AAPL and $FB earnings etc.

I’m not even going to bother to post charts, all these watches are lame… But I fully believe in running them to get “in tune” with the market. Any good looking charts showing up on the screens are all to low volume. Looking forward to the trading day and tomorrow’s scan, but today’s blegh.

FX Energy Inc. (FXEN) -NasdaqGS

Watchlist 4-23-2014 – $FXEN, $AXAS, $CXDC, $HIL, $BIOF

Another solid green day yesterday, though nothing to brag about. I think I was up roughly $650ish. Seemed tough to find my sort of play yesterday, and for sure no slam dunks so I was just in full on grind mode. Much like Monday, at least I got a lot done during the day as well. So while profit is “ok” I’m happy with it considering the setups.

Today’s List: Full list from Yahoo Finance

FX Energy Inc. (FXEN) -NasdaqGS

Almost shorted this several times, but convinced myself it was only out of boredom. Glad I stayed away yesterday, but a lot of these POS oil and gassers seem to be losing momentum.

FXEN

Abraxas Petroleum Corp. (AXAS) -NasdaqCM

This was my best trade of the day yesterday, though of course I only caught a small part of the move. I covered at $5.20, it fell into the $4.90’s. Still looks pretty weak.

AXAS

China XD Plastics Company Ltd. (CXDC) -NasdaqGM

Been watching this for several days, I was hoping for a much bigger spike to short into. At this point its becoming kind of lame. If nothing happens today I’ll probably quit watching it, kind of boring.

CXDC

Hill International, Inc. (HIL) -NYSE

Another boredom short and an NYSE stock… I shorted this late afternoon and was up decent but it was so boring I let it come back on me. I have a feeling this will only crack if the market gets shitty. But I was basically flat so I decided to hold over night. Meh…. Does seem to be losing steam at least.

HIL

BioFuel Energy Corp. (BIOF) -NasdaqCM

Another annoying shitty stock that refuses to break down. I spent way to much time watching it yesterday and all it did was spike. This is another one that I’m giving up on after today.

BIOF

Watchlist 4-22-2014 – $FXEN, $JAKK, $AXAS, $HIL, $BIOF

While nothing to brag about, I did stick to the plan yesterday and finished the day green. Some software issues as well as mediocre decisions minimized my gains.

Today’s List: Full list from Yahoo Finance

FX Energy Inc. (FXEN) -NasdaqGS

Covered this in my recap video from yesterday, royally messed up the first short, but I’ll put 30% of the blame on software issues. Second short of the day was very solid. I think this continues to fade today.

FXEN

JAKKS Pacific, Inc. (JAKK) -NasdaqGS

Almost shorted this 2-3 times last hour of the day yesterday, not sure why I stayed out though. It just never felt right. But looks like it could start fading very soon.

JAKK

Abraxas Petroleum Corp. (AXAS) -NasdaqCM

Decided to hold this short overnight, though a smart man would have cut it. It might crack, but I am more confident it probably just grinds me and becomes annoying. Should have just went into the overnight with a clean slate. I HATE holding stocks overnight, especially mediocre setups like this one.

AXAS

Hill International, Inc. (HIL) -NYSE

Like the chart, but I hate shorting $NYSE stocks, doubt I’ll play this.

HIL

BioFuel Energy Corp. (BIOF) -NasdaqCM

Had this on watch from yesterday so because of that almost traded it several times. Much like $JAKK it just never felt right, though had I entered it could have been a decent trade. Will watch for further fading today.

TraderFeed: The Power of Cognitive Flexibility in Trading

I like the “flexible commitment” idea.

Clearly there is an alternative to blind overconfidence and skittish lack of staying power in ideas.  That alternative, I believe, is flexible commitment.  We can be committed to a course of action at the same time that we’re open to modifying it.  Military leaders know this well:  you create a strategy, but few strategies survive the fog of war.  You are always ready to modify the strategy based upon conditions on the ground.

Though he uses bands, Power Plates, and all manner of new techniques, Peterson is unapologetically old-school: “We’re not auditioning for Cirque du Soleil.” He gestures to the racks of heavy weights that made Stallone a global macho icon. “What about fucking basic barbell curls? It has to be a one-arm dumbbell press on a stability ball? Look, it’s great that you have an iPad, but there’s nothing wrong with a book.”

Watchlist 4-21-2014 – $BAS, $BIOF, $AXAS, $FXEN

Very mixed week last week, started strong, finished pretty mediocre. Goal for this week will be consistency. Even if my profits are down overall at the end of the week my goal is to be green every day. Trying to build a little more momentum and thusly more consistency, tired of the swings.

Today’s List: Full list from Yahoo Finance

Basic Energy Services, Inc. (BAS) -NYSE

Been stalking this on the short side for what seems like forever, have yet to see a really good entry. Now that being said there have been trades, I just have not taken any. I’m afraid this is one of those that the instant I quit watching it, it will crack. But at the same time I get very annoyed watching and waiting, especially when there are other solid plays that get ignored because of focusing on something that refuses to crack.

BAS

BioFuel Energy Corp. (BIOF) -NasdaqCM

Anytime this POS spikes it goes on my short watch list. Seems to be a carcass, plus its in ethanol, a business I always look to short.

BIOF

Abraxas Petroleum Corp. (AXAS) -NasdaqCM

These small oil and gas companies seem to be popping a lot lately. This one is my favorite to watch for the short based on the chart.

AXAS

FX Energy Inc. (FXEN) -NasdaqGS

Ouch, took this long for 7 CENTS!! Way back at $4.03… Talk about leaving some on the table… Now I’m looking for the short.
